Antique oil painting. French oil painting, in need of restoration.
Here we have a lovely still life oil on canvas that could do with some restoration.
The picture shows fruit on a table top with grapes apples and pears. The painting is very well done an has obviously been painted by an accomplished artist.
The painting is quite dark, I imagine it has probably been in the same French country house for popular many many years where it will have darkened over time with dust from open fires.
There is a signature and date in the bottom right corner " G. Lemée 1916."
As you can see there are quite a few areas of damage to the canvas which I have tried to point out. Someone has quite crudely used clear tape on the back to help, but I think this painting needs to go and have some proper restoration carried out to bring it back to it's former glory. The largest area of damage is towards the top on the left hand side where there is a tear, you can see this in the photos. We have priced the painting accordingly because of it's faults but I think some restoration, a good clean and a lovely new frame and this painting would look fabulous and would make a great addition to any collection.
