For sale is an antique, cast popular brass signal padlock made for the Toledo & Ohio Central Railway (T&OCRR). Made by the Wilson Bohannan Lock Company when it was located in Brooklyn, NY. (Wilson Bohannan moved their operations to Marion, Ohio in 1926 making this lock at least 94 years old.) In excellent clean mechanical, physical, and interior condition with a shackle that opens easily. Dust cover spring is fully-operable and springs back into position. The cast brass body of this padlock is fully intact with no cracks or major dings. The front of the shackle is stamped, “W Bohannan, Brooklyn, NY. Pat June 25, 79” and the back of the shackle is stamped “SIGNAL.” Comes with an operable brass barrel key. Coin is shown for size comparison purposes only.
Founded in 1885, the Toledo and Ohio Central Railway (T&OCRR) was a railway company in the U.S. state of Ohio. In the 1920s/30s the railway was leased by, and then eventually merged into, the New York Central System in 1952.
