These beautiful, fine art, glass sculptures of lead free crystal may be used as ornaments or suncatchers year round. When the sun shines on them they capture the sunlight and cast rainbows on the walls. No two are alike. They are unique and as special as the person that will be receiving them.

These hand engraved, fine art, glass creations are made by Catherine Miller of Catherine Miller Designs. She is able to accomplish this by using the Old World Technique of stone wheel engraving, also known as Intaglio Engraving.

For those not familiar with this art form, stone wheel engraving is accomplished with the use of a lathe and stone wheels of various diameters and widths. Catherine holds crystal or glass against the rotating, water cooled, stone wheel to carve and create various designs. She finishes each piece by engraving her signature and, if possible or requested, she may engrave a small word or message hidden in the design.

These pieces are all uniquely handmade and there are no stencils, patterns nor shortcuts such as sandblasting, acid etching, laser, etc.
Stone Wheel Engraving is very labor intensive and requires a lot of skill, strength and a very steady hand.
Catherine has created pieces that have taken up to 200 hundred hours to complete.
