This is the most gorgeous color of Aqua Blue I have ever seen in an oyster plate. The glaze is so pretty! I tried to get several different pictures using different light to show the beautiful color. This plate was made in the mid century, the 1950's. It was made by Proceram, a pottery company in Aubagne, France. The city and area have been well known for centuries for their artists and pottery. Matisse even painted on Proceram pottery.
Dimensions: 9 3/8"
The plate is very fine French Faience pottery with a weight and feel all its own. There are 6 shell shaped wells and a center sauce well. The unique shape of the shell is distinctive to the Proceram Pottery. This would make a lovely addition to any oyster plate collection! This plate is in very good vintage condition. There is some popular crazing to the glaze, but no chips or cracks to the plate.
