From my French Couture Collection:

A piece of vintage French Alencon lace has been very heavily hand embroidered with shimmery pearls, silver lined glass seed and bugle beads, and sequins. This shape is lovely above an undo, and looks graceful along the side of the head as well.

How do I embroider the laces in this French Couture Collection? A piece of silk organza fabric is mounted onto a square embroidery frame, and the lace is stitched in place on top of the silk. It then takes hours of patient hand embroidery, covering the lace with exquisite patterns of pearls, beads and sequins. Hand embroidery like this has an entirely different look when compared to an appliqué which can be purchased. It is richly three dimensional and all the little details catch the eye.
