Product code: Degas' girl popular painting
Edgar Degas's statue of ballet dancer. The 14 yr old dancer was muse for many of Degas' work. Apparently he was criticized for everything from the use of his materials to the sharp features of the girl when he made this statue. He used wax, horse hair and tulle for the statue instead of sticking to the norm of making bronze statue of the day. I hope you like my interpretation of the statue, a picture I took from the side instead of the usual front. The incredible attention to the detail, to even the ribbon in her hair fascinated me. 12x16" popular watercolor on arches paper.
