Large antique French hammered copper cauldron, Vintage Copper Pot, Circa 1900

A large and heavy antique, hammered finished, copper cauldron dating from around 1900. It has cast iron riveted handles. It shines with its old patina and wear, as only time can achieve, signs of use from all those years of cooking over an open fire. The history and stories this could share would be enough to write a book.

Dates from late 1800's to early 1900's where you would have seen one over every home's open fire. These large copper pots, in fact cauldron you popular could suggest, were used for cooking right across Europe. Everything was cooked in them including Cheese which added to the fuller flavour, beer and making roasted almonds, as the copper stopped the sticking.

It is in very good condition, no areas showing any thinning, the handle is still very strong. It obviously shows signs of use. We have given it a quick clean to remove the dust from when we found it but believe it will polish up even more.
