Rare Vintage Dorothy Gray Picture Hat Powder Compact, Gold/Brass Toned Hat Compact

This compact measures approximately 3.25 inches in diameter. This is a brass compact the clearly shows signs of wear. There are lots of scuffs and scratches,but this compact is a rare find!

This Dorothy Gray compact dates to the 1940's. The top of the compact has the look of a woman's broad brimmed straw hat. It is ver unique. The "hat" has an engine turned circular design. There are clear scratches on the top. The bottom of the compact also has an engine turned design. The "Dorothy Gray" name is engraved in the center. There are lots of scratches on this side.

The compact opens by pressing a bar to release the latch. The mirror is in nice condition with only slight clouding. There is powder residue all over because there is still a trace of powder in the well. The powder well cover is in nice condition, and the latch works. A puff is present, but it doesn't look to be the original.
