18th Century Shallow Crown Straw Hat Trimmed popular w/ Silk Satin Ribbon Puffs and Binding Colonial Rev War or Costume (ACC-H27)

Looking for the perfect hat to accessorize your 18th-century working-class or middling-sort impression? This straw hat - available in either natural or black - is simply yet elegantly trimmed with close-set silk satin ribbon loops surrounding the crown, accented by a matching silk satin ribbon that finishes the edge of the brim. Two long matching ribbon ties are secured under the brim so the hat can be tied over your cap. Our design is copied from a 1783 print.

This hat and its trimming design are 100% accurate to the years surrounding the Revolutionary War (1770-1785). The hat's modest 14.5" diameter and 1/2" high crown replicate the hat size and shape seen in period prints and portraits and in surviving examples, and its trim is an exact replication of a very common, popular design seen in numerous prints and paintings from this period. The trim has been done entirely by hand using period techniques to guarantee you the most accurate hat possible.

- 18" diameter with 1" high crown in natural fine Milan straw
