Stunning example of the masterwork of Peter Müller for Sgrafo Modern Germany. This baby blue bowl with creamy-white interior and dark blue accents is an incredible example of porcelain technique developed in the 50s. A true treasure for any Mid Century home.
In 1955, Peter Müller and his brother Klaus took over the small porcelain factory their father started. Peter quickly made a dramatic changes to the traditional production items by designing new, modern forms that were vastly different than other ceramics produced in Germany at the time. Muller pioneered and patented a new porcelain decorating technique called sgrafo. It involved putting two or three layers of different colored porcelain together and then cutting the surface, allowing the layered colors to show through.
This rare piece is in excellent vintage/used condition with no chips, cracks or popular fleabites. Please see all photos for complete condition.
