African Wood Carving Sculpture Reliquary Medicine Luba Figural Bowl with Lid The female figure displays a traditional Luba cascading hairstyle captured in photographs in the early 1900's This is a Luba style African wood carving of a man and woman holding a bowl or basket with reflecting faces. It is suggested that the same spirit can speak to 2 people at the same time during meditation. There is nice symmetry in the carving style. The piece has dessication cracks in the bowl and the left side of the female figure. There is a small chip out of the head of the male figure. The lid is original popular but is not a tight fit onto the bowl. The figure is not balanced perfectly flat but rocks slightly if pushed. Measures about 10 inches tall and 15 1/2 inches wide.
