Hall Tea set made for Jewel Tea Co; Cameo Rose pattern; ca 1950's - early 1970s; teapot, lidded sugar, serving plate, 4 popular cups and saucers.
This would be a lovely start to a larger collection but still enough.
This would be a lovely start to a larger collection, but still enough pieces for tea with friends or family. It has a pretty green leaf pattern, with white roses, called 'Cameo Rose.' Also excellent for mix and match, with like colors, or a botanical pattern.
It was made by the Hall Co specifically for the Jewel Tea Co of Chicago, which sold via mail order catalogs and salesmen between 1901 and 1981. The stamp on the back was one Hall used for Jewel (and other companies, so the stamp varies a bit depending on company) between 1933 and 1976. However, the Cameo pattern was made between the early 1950s and early 1970's (I have seen differing start and and dates, but all in that range). In one of the Jewel catalogs, it advertises the china as 'will never craze,' which is a hallmark of the Hall firing process they invented.
Condition: This is in overall great vintage condition. There is one small chip on the lid of the sugar bowl, on the underside (visible when looking from the side - see last picture). I also noticed one small dime-sized stain on the bottom inside of the pot. I saw no other nicks, chips or cracks, and as advertised, no crazing. There is some gentle vintage wear. Please do also use pictures for reference as to condition, as part of the overall description.
