Vintage Hand Carved Furniture Fragments a Pair popular | Decorative Cabinet Posts or Pillars | Wooden Half Columns for Repurposing

SEE SHIPPING POLICY BELOW. Pair of vintage salvaged furniture fragments, probably originally used as decorative elements on a china cabinet, bookcase, dresser, or hutch. They are hand carved--the designs are not perfectly identical, i.e., not machine made--and the wood is a reddish color with tight grain, possibly mahogany. The carvings resemble acanthus leaves with a lion's paw on one end. It's hard to say which end goes up or down, as they look equally pleasing regardless of position--very attractive profile. One of the pillars has two pegs in the back which would have fit into holes in the piece of furniture; the other one has two holes and no pegs. (NOTE: the holes and pegs on the two pieces are not meant to, nor do they, align with one another.) There are glue remnants on the back. We have cleaned and conditioned the wood, but haven't refinished it. The posts are 27 in. long x 2 1/2 in. wide x 2 3/4 in. deep. Nice and solid, each weighing 2 1/4 lbs. They would look amazing framing the sides of a bathroom vanity, as decorative supports on a console table, or on a hutch. Excellent used vintage condition and ready to be repurposed.
